Description

Webinar on Quark Matter and Relativistic Hydrodynamics

Abstract:

Heavy-ion collisions create strong fluid vorticity in the produced quark-gluon matter. Such fluid vorticity polarizes the spin of the constituent particles and leads to the 'spin polarization' observables of hadrons. I will discuss the mechanisms of the generation of fluid vorticity and some interesting properties of vorticities. I will then discuss how the global spin-polarization observable is understood in terms of vorticity. The local spin polarization is, however, not yet understood. I will talk about some theoretical progress that may shine a light on understanding the local spin polarization in heavy-ion collisions.
